Snoring Solutions

The good news!
There are solutions.

A few individuals that snore have had success with Breathe Right Nasal Strips or throat sprays but most persistent snorers have not.  A more consistently successful remedy is a sleep mouthpiece.  It fits in the mouth over the upper and lower teeth during sleep.  It looks a lot like two thin mouth guards connected together.

The secret of the sleep appliance is that it holds the jaw in a forward position while sleeping.  This position helps open the airway and keeps the tongue from falling back against the palate and throat.  And just like magic, you stop snoring.

Some individuals with severe forms of sleep apnea may need a breathing machine called a CPAP.  Surgery may also be an option but a majority of snoring problems can be corrected with just a mouthpiece.  CPAP with hoses and plugs, surgery on the palate and throat, or a simple mouthpiece?    A mouthpiece sounds like the best choice, doesn’t it?

Mouthpiece therapy offers many advantages:
  • The appliances are relatively small and easy to wear.  Its small size makes it easy to travel with.
  • Most find it takes no more than a few weeks to become completely comfortable wearing the mouthpiece.
  • A mouthpiece is relatively inexpensive.  The cost of therapy is considerably less than the cost and risks of alternative treatments, surgery or a breathing machine (CPAP).
  • Treatment with a mouthpiece is reversible and non-invasive - it doesn't involve surgery or its risks.
